Heat Energy

  • 14.0 recognize that heat is a form of energy and that temperature change
results from adding or taking away heat.
  • 15.0 Explain the effect of heat on particle motion through a description of
what happens to particles during a change in phase.
  • 16.0 Give examples of how heat moves in predictable ways, moving from
warmer object to cool ones until they reach equilibrium.

Conductive: This is where one object transfers heat directly through contact with another object.
Radiation: This is when heat is transferred by radiating off of an object.
Convective: This is where heat is carried from one object by a fluid motion in a gas or liquid.
